Story from our neighbors: zinemaking and contemporary Albanian artists
A talk by Olson Lamaj
Pararoja is an independent publishing house founded by group visual artists in Albania during July 2020. Its publications are in the form of zines and its aim is to engage with the alternative editorial making of the artist’s book, fanzine, poster and different handcrafts. Olson will talk about how this artist project was born in a period of quarantine and how it has evolved until now by presenting the works of six artists: Blerta Hocia, Ledia Kostandini, Driton Selmani, Olson Lamaj, Dritan Hyska and the collective “La SOCIETE SPECTRALE’.
Olson Lamaj (Tirana) is an Albanian artist. His work investigates social and political issues related both to contemporary life in Albania and to more universal systems of meaning extending beyond immediate conditions. As one of the co-founders of MIZA Gallery in Tirana, Lamaj’s own experience as an artist has been related to the establishment of artistic spaces and institutions in the city. Lamaj’s projects emphasize the semiotic over saturation – the mysterious, almost mystical qualities – of objects and images related to political ideologies. His artworks function as a collective mythography of the present, laying the groundwork for the creation of new myths.

HEKLER: Decentralized Archives
A talk by Jelena Prljevic & Yiannis Andronikidis
Can polyvocality live within the covers? What gets kept, and what gets crossed out in the making of decentralized archives? Through the previous questions, we aim to open up a dialogue around access to knowledge, trans(re)lation and collaboration in artistic publishing practices.
Jelena Prljević (Užice) is an artist from Serbia whose practice explores the field of drawing, moving image, and installation. Her work suggests an understanding of fear and the healing process necessary to overcome both internal and external unrest.She participated in many national and international group exhibitions, film festivals, and collaborative projects. In 2018, in NYC, along with artists Nataša Prljević and Joshua Nierodzinski she co-founded HEKLER platform and transnational collective that focuses on examination of hospitality and conflict. Yiannis Andronikidis is an art historian, writer, and translator currently based in Greece. After studying History, Archaeology, and History of Art at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, he completed his MA thesis Documented subjectivities, artistic autonomy, and the social register: critical analysis of Forensic Architecture’s vision at the Edinburgh College of Art. Parallel to his studies, he developed a keen interest in the (expanded) fields of photography, film, and writing, all of which he has been intertwining in his practice. He recently initiated an ongoing research project, Translation as (an) Archival Process, while writing, translating, and editing pieces around contemporary art, film, and literature. HEKLER is an artist-run platform and transnational community of artists, cultural workers and activists that foster critical and experimental examination of hospitality and conflict. Ukrainian metamodernism & art in war times
A talk by Yan Tashtoush
Local Stickerbook’s co-founding member, Yan Tashtoosh, will give a talk about war in the age of Metamodernism or, in other words, what Ukranian novelist Oksana Zabuzkho has described as following: “the Ukrainian choice is a choice between nonexistence and an existence that kills you.”
Yan Tashtoush is co-founder and co-curator of the Local Stickerbook along with Sasha Sakara, Katyia Samogon and Stasyia Lutova. Interested in exploring and documenting Ukrainian Metamodernism through organizing (Meta-) happenings in Kyiv and opening less known culture codes of Ukrainian alternative art. Started Studying at University of Arts Berlin to further continue search of fresh visual ideas through different media.
Local Stickerbook is an independent magazine exhibiting works of contemporary Ukrainian artists. For each edition, around 20 artists are selected to represent their creations through the sticker format. The project was launched in February, 2021 as an initiative of Kyiv-based artists and curators. Since that time, the team successfully hosted several multi-format events (under the name MetaSalon) uniting various local musicians, artists and enthusiasts to explore metamodernistic ideas and approaches.

Scissors, Glue & Social Welfare: Alternative Media as an Intervetionist Strategy
A talk by Kristyn Bat Lopez
Where national and institutional responsibility is transferred to local and private entities, social problems become hyper-localized, minimizing the visibility of already marginalized voices, and the rationale for national responses to so-called local issues. How can socially-engaged artists and organizations intervene in this process – to be responsive and of service without also colluding with neoliberal frameworks or serving the whims of entrepreneurial production? Alternative media creators often engage within these gaps, discussing topics that are taboo, left out or otherwise underrepresented. By focusing on these values and practices as they exist outside of formalized settings, without the necessity of extensive professional training or expensive equipment, the natural limitation in scope of many alternative media projects consequently facilitates an intimate, familiar relationship to their audience.
Kristyn will present a working research proposal exploring how alternative media and DIY/maker movements function “within and against” institutional systems and cultural norms, as well as a brief discussion of her new work, Raupen töten.
Kristyn Bat Lopez (Gainesville, Köln) is an artist, educator and writer. Her zines, books and social practice are informed by the interplay between the roles of parent, teacher, researcher and activist. She holds a MA in Art Education and a graduate certificate in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Florida, and founded a nonprofit art organization, Wayfaring Painter, in 2017. Her current research proposal investigates how alternative media, DIY and maker subcultures work “within and against“ institutional structures across different welfare regimes. She has written zines since age 14 and recently expanded my practice into printed artist books. My most recent book, Lasagna Love, is a grotesque account of food and death. An edition of ten was letterpress printed, hand folded and bound inside a pasta box.

Girls and Queers to the Front! Carving Space for Resistance in Poland Through Zinemaking.
A talk by Aleksandra Kamińska
In what ways can zines be seen as a form of resistance? Is self-publishing a tool for social change? This talk explores the intersection of DIY publishing practices and social justice, focusing on feminist and queer communities. Zines – self-published, small-circulation, (usually) print publications – have a long history of questioning prevailing narratives of gender and sexuality and opposing the excluding practices of the mainstream publishing industries. After outlining the role of the US-based 1990s Riot Grrrl movement in popularizing zines as a feminist mode of production, this talk examines the possibilities of seeing zine-making as a form of activism. While using the historical framework, it will focus on how the Riot Grrrl legacy is still present outside of the US context, aiming for decentralized perspectives. To achieve that, Aleksandra Kamińska will talk about her experience as a co-founder and publisher of the Polish feminist-queer zine Girls* to the Front. When discussing her practice, she will focus on the role of zines in community-building and pleasure activism in Poland. We hope for questions, discussion, and exchange of experiences in zine-making.
Aleksandra Kamińska (Warsaw) – zinster, scholar, musician. Aleksandra is a co-founder of a feminist-queer initiative Girls* to the Front, based in Warsaw, Poland. Since 2015, Girls* to the Front has been creating space for women and queer artists, writers, and musicians, by publishing zines, conducting workshops, and organizing concerts. Girls* to the Front values an anti-capitalist approach, community building, and DIY practices. Read more about it here: girlstothefront.pl / @girlstothefront_. Besides her work in Girls* to the Front, Aleksandra is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Warsaw. Her academic research focuses on the self-representations of young women in American culture, queer theory, and visions of failure. She plays bass in a post-punk band NANA.

Queer Pasts Nourish Queer Futures!
A talk by Brooke Palmieri
In this talk we will consider how fragments from queer history provide crucial knowledge to imagining a future queer liberation without borders. Working within a DIY ecosystem of salvaged archival materials and new prints, participants will be encouraged to consider what they desire from the past, and how toward with those desires to move between aspects of queer history that are well-documented and those that have been lost, or remain to be rediscovered.
Brooke Palmieri is an artist, writer, and educator working at the intersection of memory, history, and gender non-conformity. In 2018 they founded CAMP BOOKS (http://campbooks.biz), a platform and travelling bookshop promoting access to queer history through prints and zines; workshops and lectures; and the construction of archives related to LGBTQIA+ activism and the long history of gender non-conformity.

Scratching the page’s surface: Art publishing in Egypt
A talk by Nour El Safoury and Marwa Benhalim.
The speakers will offer an overview of art publishing in Egypt, present Esmat Publishes and share insights on the intricacies of starting an independent art book fair in Cairo.
Nour El Safoury (Cairo) is a publisher, and a visual culture critic who is interested in infatuation and grief as departure points for a critical practice and in fragments, absences and aborted dreams as beginnings for historical narrative. In 2020, she founded Esmat—Publishing List, a publishing outfit based in Cairo (EG) and a not-for-profit organization for cultural production. Esmat came out of a need to find ways to harvest and share knowledge that is relevant to the contemporary cultural field, especially knowledge that is produced and shared by cultural workers in a variety of media. Esmat is an homage to a character from the 1972 film Genoon al-Shabaab (Madness of Youth).
Marwa Benhalim (Cairo) is a Libyan/Egyptian artist and curator, currently living and working in Cairo, Egypt. She has participated in exhibitions in Egypt, USA, UAE, Italy, Mexico, and Spain. Benhalim holds an MFA from Southern Methodist University, TX, 2017; a BA from the American University in Cairo, Egypt, 2014, and a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design from the University of the Arts, London, UK, 2010.

Lectura en voz alta/ Reading out loud: Artist publications from Peru
A lecture by Nancy La Rosa and Natalia Revila
“Reading out loud” is an overview of some of the publications presented at the Athens Art Book Fair. We will show a journey of images and texts extracted from art books, seeking to generate encounters or coincidences. A collage of fragments to discover the sensitivity on paper from Peru.
Natalia Revilla (Lima) has been an artist, graphic designer and web programmer since 2005. Her training in Fine Arts, digital illustration and web page design has made it possible for her to collaborate on projects related to art and specialized in the development of websites for artists, galleries and cultural spaces. She is currently Co-Director of Contexto, Editorial of Artist’s Books based in Lima. She has participated in the ArtLibris Book Fairs, International Artist Book Fair and Contemporary 2019; L.A. Art BookFair Printed Matter´s 2019; Tinta Photo Book Fair Lima 2019; 11th Tijuana Artist’s Books Fair Sao Paulo 2016, among others. The published editions are part of the collection of Artist’s Books of the Reina Sofía Museum – Madrid.
Nancy La Rosa (Lima), is a visual artist with studies in printing and visual anthropology. Currently doing the WIELS Residency Programme. Her works in diverse media -drawing, printing, photography, video and installation- refer to the socio environmental conflicts derived from the extraction of natural resources in Peru, as well as to the power relations that exist in traditional representations of the territory. She co-directed Encuentros Cercanos publishing project, which focuses on publishing the texts and visual projects of different artists in a simple and low-cost design.

Self-sustaining publishing: contemporary practices in Spain
A talk by Jaime Sebastián & Rubén Montesinos
Is independent publishing sustainable as a business? Is independent publishing sustainable as a community of creatives? Is independent publishing sustainable with the current climate and economic crisis? Through some examples and case studies of artist publishers, we’ll try to open up a debate, on if we all should be questioning our daily practices.
Jaime Sebastián and Ruben Montesinos (Spain) are a graphic design duo from Valencia working mainly in the arts fields as designers, editors, publishers, and educators. In 2018 they co-founded Handshake, a graphic design studio and publishing house, mixing both their professional and artistic practices. They have participated in multiple international art book fairs since then, developing their project into a wider network. In 2020 Jaime and Rubén co-founded Recreo Art Books, from where they’ve been working on different research and curatorial projects.
Recreo Art Book Fair was founded by Iván Santana, Aythami Castellano, Jaime Sebastián and Rubén Montesinos in 2020. The project was born with the goal of representing and making more visible emerging projects within the landscape of independent publications and art books in Spain, and at the same time, showcasing talented publishers from abroad in order to nourish collaborations between different contexts.

Το Pararoja είναι ένας ανεξάρτητος εκδοτικός οίκος που ιδρύθηκε από μια ομάδα καλλιτεχνών τον Ιούλιο του 2020 στην Αλβανία. Οι εκδόσεις του είναι στη μορφή ζιν και στόχος τους είναι να ασχοληθούν με την εναλλακτική εκδοτική δημιουργία των artist’s book, των φανζίν, των αφισσών και διαφόρων άλλων χειροποίητων δημιουργιών. Ο Olson Lamaj (Τίρανα) είναι Αλβανος καλλιτέχνης. Η δουλειά του ερευνά κοινωνικά και πολιτικά ζητήματα που σχετίζονται τόσο με τη σύγχρονη ζωή στην Αλβανία όσο και με πιο καθολικά συστήματα νοήματος που εκτείνονται πέρα από τις άμεσες συνθήκες. Ως ένας από τους ιδρυτές της MIZA Gallery στα Τίρανα, η εμπειρία του ίδιου ως καλλιτέχνη έχει συνδεθεί με την ίδρυση καλλιτεχνικών χώρων και ιδρυμάτων στην πόλη. Τα έργα του Lamaj τονίζουν τη σημειωτική έναντι του κορεσμού – τις μυστηριώδεις, σχεδόν μυστικιστικές ιδιότητες – αντικειμένων και εικόνων που σχετίζονται με πολιτικές ιδεολογίες. Η Jelena Prljević (Užice) είναι καλλιτέχνης από τη Σερβία της οποίας η πρακτική διερευνά το πεδίο του σχεδίου, της κινούμενης εικόνας και των εγκαταστάσεων. Ο Γιάννης Ανδρονικίδης είναι ιστορικός τέχνης, συγγραφέας και μεταφραστής με έδρα την Ελλάδα. Κατόπιν των σπουδών του στην Ιστορία, Αρχαιολογία και Ιστορία Τέχνης στο Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης, ολοκλήρωσε τη μεταπτυχιακή του εργασία Τεκμηριωμένες υποκειμενικότητες, καλλιτεχνική αυτονομία και το κοινωνικό πεδίο: κριτική προσέγγιση του έργου των Forensic Architecture στο Edinburgh College of Art. Παράλληλα με τις σπουδές του, ανέπτυξε έντονο ενδιαφέρον στους (διευρυμένους) τομείς της φωτογραφίας, του φιλμ, και της γραφής, οι οποίοι μεταξύ τους διαπλέκονται στην πρακτική του. Το συν-ιδρυτικό μέλος των Local Stickerbook, Yan Tashtoush, θα δώσει μια ομιλία για τον πόλεμο στην εποχή του Μεταμοντερνισμού ή, με άλλα λόγια, για αυτό που η Ουκρανή μυθιστοριογράφος Oksana Zabuzkho έχει επιγράψει ως εξής: “η ουκρανική επιλογή είναι μια επιλογή ανάμεσα στην ανυπαρξία και την ύπαρξη που σε σκοτώνει”.
Ο Yan Tashtoush είναι συνιδρυτής και συνεπιμελητής του περιοδικού Local Stickerbook μαζί με τους Sasha Sakara, Katyia Samogon και Stasyia Lutova. Ενδιαφέρεται για την εξερεύνηση και την καταγραφή του ουκρανικού μεταμοντερνισμού μέσω της οργάνωσης (μετα-) εκδηλώσεων στο Κίεβο και του ανοίγματος λιγότερο γνωστών κωδικών πολιτισμού της ουκρανικής εναλλακτικής τέχνης. Ξεκίνησε να σπουδάζει στο Πανεπιστήμιο Τεχνών του Βερολίνου για να συνεχίσει περαιτέρω την αναζήτηση φρέσκων οπτικών ιδεών μέσω διαφορετικών μέσων.

Ψαλίδι, Κόλλα και Κοινωνική Πρόνοια: Εναλλακτικά Μέσα ως Στρατηγική Παρέμβασης

Όπου η εθνική και θεσμική ευθύνη μεταβιβάζεται σε τοπικούς και ιδιωτικούς φορείς, τα κοινωνικά προβλήματα γίνονται υπερτοπικά, ελαχιστοποιώντας την ορατότητα των ήδη περιθωριοποιημένων φωνών και το σκεπτικό για εθνικές απαντήσεις στα λεγόμενα τοπικά ζητήματα. Πώς μπορούν οι κοινωνικά εμπλεκόμενοι καλλιτέχνες και οι οργανώσεις να παρέμβουν σε αυτή τη διαδικασία – να ανταποκρίνονται και να εξυπηρετούν χωρίς να συνεννοούνται με νεοφιλελεύθερα πλαίσια ή να εξυπηρετούν τις ιδιοτροπίες της επιχειρηματικής παραγωγής; Οι δημιουργοί εναλλακτικών μέσων συχνά εμπλέκονται σε αυτά τα κενά, συζητώντας θέματα που είναι ταμπού, παραλείπονται ή υποεκπροσωπούνται με άλλο τρόπο. Εστιάζοντας σε αυτές τις αξίες και πρακτικές, καθώς υπάρχουν εκτός των επίσημων πλαισίων χωρίς την ανάγκη εκτεταμένης επαγγελματικής κατάρτισης ή ακριβού εξοπλισμού, ο φυσικός περιορισμός στο εύρος πολλών έργων εναλλακτικών μέσων διευκολύνει κατά συνέπεια μια οικεία σχέση με το κοινό τους.
Η Kristyn θα παρουσιάσει μια ερευνητική πρόταση που διερευνά πώς λειτουργούν τα εναλλακτικά μέσα και τα κινήματα DIY «εντός και ενάντια» στα θεσμικά συστήματα και στους πολιτιστικούς κανόνες, καθώς και μια σύντομη συζήτηση για τη νέα της δουλειά, Raupen töten.

Με ποιους τρόπους τα zines μπορούν να θεωρηθούν ως μορφή αντίστασης; Είναι η αυτοέκδοση εργαλείο κοινωνικής αλλαγής; Αυτή η ομιλία διερευνά τη διασταύρωση των εκδοτικών πρακτικών DIY και της κοινωνικής δικαιοσύνης, εστιάζοντας στις φεμινιστικές και queer κοινότητες. Τα Zines – αυτοεκδόσεις, μικρής κυκλοφορίας, (συνήθως) σε μορφή εντύπου – έχουν μακρά ιστορία αμφισβήτησης των κυρίαρχων αφηγήσεων για το φύλο και τη σεξουαλικότητα και αντιτίθενται στις πρακτικές αποκλεισμού των κυρίαρχων εκδοτικών βιομηχανιών. Αφού σκιαγραφηθεί ο ρόλος του κινήματος Riot Grrrl της δεκαετίας του 1990 που εδρεύει στις ΗΠΑ και συμβάλλει στη διάδοση των zines ως φεμινιστικού τρόπου παραγωγής, αυτή η ομιλία εξετάζει τις δυνατότητες να δούμε τη δημιουργία zine ως μια μορφή ακτιβισμού. Η Aleksandra Kamińska (Βαρσοβία) – είναι zinster, ερευνήτρια και μουσικός. Είναι συνιδρύτρια μιας φεμινιστικής-queer πρωτοβουλίας, της Girls* to the Front, με έδρα τη Βαρσοβία της Πολωνίας. Από το 2015, το Girls* to the Front δημιουργεί χώρο για γυναίκες και queer καλλιτέχνες, συγγραφείς και μουσικούς, δημοσιεύοντας zines, διοργανώνοντας εργαστήρια και συναυλίες. Το Girls* to the Front εκτιμά μια αντικαπιταλιστική προσέγγιση, την οικοδόμηση κοινότητας και τις πρακτικές DIY. Παίζει μπάσο σε ένα post-punk συγκρότημα, το NANA.

Ομιλία της Μπρουκ Παλμιέρι
Σε αυτήν την ομιλία θα εξετάσουμε πώς θραύσματα της κουήρ ιστορίας παρέχουν κρίσιμη γνώση προκειμένου να φανταστούμε μια μελλοντική κουήρ απελευθέρωση χωρίς σύνορα. Δουλεύοντας σε ένα οικοσύστημα DIY διασωθέντων αρχειακών υλικών και νέων εκτυπώσεων, οι συμμετέχοντες θα ενθαρρυνθούν να σκεφτούν τι επιθυμούν από το παρελθόν και πώς να προχωρήσουν σε αυτές τις επιθυμίες, κινώντας ανάμεσα σε πτυχές της κουήρ ιστορίας που είναι καλά τεκμηριωμένες, και σε εκείνες που έχουν χαθεί, ή μένει να ανακαλυφθούν.
Το Brooke Palmieri είναι καλλιτέχνης, συγγραφέας και εκπαιδευτικός που εργάζεται στο σημείο τομής της μνήμης, της ιστορίας και της μη συμμόρφωσης των φύλων. Το 2018 ίδρυσε την CAMP BOOKS (http://campbooks.biz), μια πλατφόρμα και ταξιδιωτικό βιβλιοπωλείο που προωθεί την πρόσβαση στην queer ιστορία μέσω εκτυπώσεων, περιοδικών, εργαστηρίων, διαλέξεων, και την κατασκευή αρχείων που σχετίζονται με τον ακτιβισμό LGBTQIA+ και τη μακρά ιστορία της έμφυλης μυ συμμόρφωσης.

Scratching the page’s surface: Η καλλιτεχνική εκδοτική πρακτική στην Αίγυπτο
ομιλία από τη Νουρ Ελ Σαφούρι και τη Μάρουα Μπενχαλιμ
Οι ομιλήτριες θα προσφέρουν μια συνολική εικόνα της καλλιτεχνικής εκδοτικής πρακτικής στην Αίγυπτο, θα παρουσίασουν το πρότζεκτ Esmat Publishers και θα μοιραστούν τις γνώσεις του σχετικά με τις περιπλοκότητα του να ξεκινήσουν μια ανεξάρτητη φουάρ βιβλίου στην Αίγυπτο.
Η Nour El Safoury (Κάιρο) είναι εκδότρια και κριτικός οπτικού πολιτισμού με ενδιαφέρον το πάθος και το πένθος ως σημεία εκκίνησης για μια κριτική πρακτική, και τα θραύσματα, τις απουσίες και τα ματαιωμένα όνειρα ως ενάρξεις ιστορικών αφηγήσεων. Το 2020 ίδρυσα το Esmat—Publishing Lis, μια εκδοτική ομάδα με έδρα το Κάιρο και μη κερδοσκοπικό οργανισμό για την πολιτιστική παραγωγή. Το Esmat προέκυψε από την ανάγκη να βρεθούν τρόποι συλλογής και μοιράσματος της γνώσης που σχετίζεται με το σύγχρονο πολιτιστικό πεδίο, ειδικά τη γνώση που παράγεται και μοιράζεται από τις/τους εργαζόμενες/μένους του πολιτισμού σε πληθώρα των μίντια. Το Esmat είναι φόρος τιμής σε έναν χαρακτήρα από την ταινία του 1972, Genoon al-Shabaab (Τρέλα της Νιότης).
Η Marwa Benhalim (Κάιρο) είναι Λίβυα/Αιγύπτια καλλιτέχνης και επιμελήτρια που σήμερα ζει και εργάζεται στο Κάιρο της Αιγύπτου. Έχει συμμετάσχει σε εκθέσεις στην Αίγυπτο, τις ΗΠΑ, τα Ηνωμένα Αραβικά Εμιράτα, την Ιταλία, το Μεξικό και την Ισπανία. Η Benhalim είναι κάτοχος MFA από το Southern Methodist University του Τέξας (2017), και πτυχιούχος του Αμερικανικού Πανεπιστημίου στο Κάιρο, (2014) καθώς και Διπλώματος στην Τέχνη και το Σχέδιο από το University of the Arts στο Λονδίνο (2010).

Η ομιλία με τίτλο “Διαβάζοντας μεγαλοφώνως” είναι μια παρουσίαση μερικών από τις εκδόσεις που θα παρουσιαστούν στο Athens Art Book Fair. Θα δείξουμε ένα ταξίδι εικόνων και κειμένων βγαλμένων από βιβλία καλλιτεχνών, με την επιδίωξη να δημιουργηθούν συναντήσεις ή συμπτώσεις. Ένα κολάζ θραυσμάτων για να ανακαλύψουμε την ευαισθησία πάνω σε χαρτί, από το Περού.
Η Natalia Revilla (Λίμα) είναι εικαστικός, γραφίστρια και προγραμματίστρια από το 2005. Η εκπαίδευσή της στις Καλές Τέχνες, την ψηφιακή εικονογράφηση και το σχεδιασμό ιστοσελίδας της έδωσε τη δυνατότητα να συνεργάζεται σε πρότζεκτ που σχετίζονται με την τέχνη και να ειδικεύεται στην ανάπτυξη ιστοσελίδων για καλλιτέχνες, γκαλερί και πολιτιστικούς χώρους. Αυτή τη στιγμή είναι Συν-Διευθύντρια του Contexto, Editorial of Artist’s Books, με έδρα τη Λίμα. Έχει συμμετάσχει στο ArtLibris Book Fairs, International Artist Book Fair and Contemporary το 2019, το L.A. Art Book Fair Printed Matter´s 2019, το Tinta Photo Book Fair Lima 2019, το 11ο Tijuana Artist’s Books Fair Sao Paulo το 2016, μεταξύ άλλων. Οι δημοσιευμένες εκδόσεις αποτελούν μέρος της συλλογής Βιβλίων Καλλιτέχνη του μουσείου Reina Sofía στη Μαδρίτη.
Η Nancy La Rosa (Λίμα) είναι εικαστικός με σπουδές στην τυπογραφία και την οπτική ανθρωπολογία. Αυτή τη στιγμή κάνει το WIELS Residency Programme. Τα έργα της σε διάφορα μέσα – σχέδιο, εκτύπωση, φωτογραφία, βίντεο και εγκαταστάσεις – αναφέρονται στις κοινωνικοπεριβαλλοντικές συγκρούσεις που προέρχονται από την εξόρυξη φυσικών πόρων στο Περού, καθώς και στις σχέσεις εξουσίας που υπάρχουν σε παραδοσιακές αναπαραστάσεις της περιοχής. Συν-διεύθυνε το εκδοτικό πρότζεκτ Encuentros Cercanos, το οποίο επικεντρώνεται στη δημοσίευση κειμένων και οπτικών έργων διαφόρων καλλιτεχνών, με απλό και χαμηλού κόστους design.
